The Amazing Race is reality television show in which teams of two race around the world in a competition.
The teams check in at "Pit Stops" and the end of each leg and the first team to arrive wins various prizes.
The first team to check-in in the last leg of the race wins 1 million dollars.

KATIE AND MAX - Newlyweds Max, 30 Katie, 24 Buffalo, NY Buffalo, NY Cigar Sales Pharmacist Max and Katie finished in 2nd Place on Season 22 of The Amazing Race. Throughout the entire competition this team was very competitive. Through the first half of the race they seemed to skate by and finish somewhere towards the middle of the pack. However, towards the end Max and Katie finished 1st in 3 consecutive legs, winning two brand new 2013 Ford Focus', $10,000 each, and a trip to the Dominican Republic. |
The teams receive clues at the start of each leg of the race along with a cash allowance that should cover their expenses for this leg of the race. They are also given credit cards to pay for airline tickets.
The clues that the teams receive can be one of many options.
Route Information: This clue usually instructs the teams where to go next. It usually just provides the name of the destination and it is up to the team to figure out how to get there.
Detour: The Detour clue presents each team with a choice of two tasks. The teams are given several details about both tasks and must chose one to complete. One task is usually more physically demanding while the other is tedious and can take some time and thinking to complete.
Roadblock: A Roadblock is task that only one team must perform. The teams are given one short cryptic clue as to what the event involves and then must decide who will perform the task. The Roadblock task is performed only by the selected racer and can not be changed.
Fasr Forward: A Fast Forward is a task that, once completed, allows the team that completes it to bypass all remaining tasks in the leg and head right to the Pit Stop.
Teams may also face many obstacles throughout the race.
Yield: The Yield allows any one team to force another team to stop racing for a set amount of time.
U-Turn: After completing their Detour task, one team may use the U-Turn to force another team to complete both Detour tasks presented to them. There is also something called the Automatic U-Turn. If a team comes in last on a leg of the race, they are usually eliminated from the race. However, sometimes there are non-elimination legs. If a team comes in last on a non-eliminated race they must also perform both Detour tasks before moving on in the competition.
