THE AILEY SCHOOL

During the summer of 2009, I was accepted to attend the Alvin
Ailey School Professional Division Summer Intensive. It is located
right in the middle of Manhattan surrounded by Lincoln Center,
Columbus Circle, Times Square, and more. Anywhere you need to go
is just a subway ride away. This intensive was six weeks long and
focused on ballet, modern, hip-hop, jazz, and conditioning. Living
in New York City for six weeks taught me how to be dependent and
responsible and the program it self taught me more than I could
have imagined. Every day I went to ballet in the morning for two
hours, followed by modern for another two hours, and either
hip-hop or jazz depending on the day. Dancing this much everyday
enhanced my technique greatly. I would recommend this summer
intensive program to every dancer aspiring to become professional.

This intensive had such
an impact on my life that it was the subject for my college
      application essay.
It describes my breakthrough and realization as a dancer since
      going to The Ailey School.
