The day I was accepted into Adelphi University's Dance Department was one of the most important days of my life. It is a program that I fit into perfectly in my opinion. Not only do they offer ballet, which I need to keep up with my technique, but they also offer modern, partnering, improvisation, and choreography classes. This is the recipe I need in order to become the professional dancer I strive to be.
During my first year at Adelphi I was cast in the Fall Dance Adelphi performance. It was such a great opportunity to perform as a freshman because it quite rare within the department. In the Spring semester of my freshman year, I was not cast in the performance. However, I was able to attend every rehearsal and take production notes because I was asked to be each choreographer's assistant stage manager. It was a tedious job, but I learned a great deal from it and now have a higher appreciation for the production team.
Currently I am in my sophomore year at Adelphi University and was cast in another Fall Dance Adelphi performance. It felt amazing to perform on stage again, and being apart of the rehearsal process. I am looking forward to my upcoming years studying at Adelphi because I believe I will gain a well rounded knowledge of dance that will help me go far in my career.
