AboutDinosaurs
Now I think a good way to introduce the dinosaurs is to see
what and what isn't actually a dinosaur.
Now a ton of critters from across time get lumped under the dinosaur
moniker and it's our job to call this out.
All the animals here are dinosaurs

Now let's look at some critters that undeservedly get lumped in with
dinosaurs
The sail-backed critter here is a Dimetrodon.

Not only is this animal not a dinosaur, it's actually a synapsid, a
group of animals that eventually gave rise to mammals like you and
me.
Next stop takes us Undah da See. Marine reptiles did live with the
dinosaurs but none of them are dinosaurs. In fact, the plesiosaurs
(the ones with short tails) and icthyosaurs (the fish shaped ones)
are closer to turtles whereas the mosasaurs are literally sea
lizards

Our next not-dinosaurs are the pterosaurs, or pterodactyl for the
uninitiated. While these animals are incredibly close to dinosaurs,
NONE OF THEM are dinosaurs

Now this may seem like a bunch of scientific jargon to y'all so I
took it upon myself to demonstrate why some animals are and aren't
dinosaurs (dinosaurs are in red)

Now yes, this means that the 10,000 birds that fill our world today,
like the peacock below, are living, breathing dinosaurs

Now that we know what is and isn't a dinosaur, go here to learn more about these
animals
