Treatment
options
Treatment depends on the
severity of the disease
The usual first line of treatment would be
medication. Medication such as narcotics (to relieve
pain), chemotherapy (kill cells that are multiplying too
quickly), and vitamins (promote normal body functions) are
given. There is also penicillin that can be taken by
children twice a day to reduce the risk of infections
caused by pneumococcus bacteria.
The next would be a blood
transfusion that would help with replacing deficiencies
within the blood stream.
And for the more severe cases a
bone-marrow transplant would be recommended. Because the
bone marrow is where the blood is produced. However this
procedure is difficult to do because the recipient
requires a donor to participate.
