Because the lack of
oxygen sickle cell anemia may cause many symptoms such as
pain, infection, and fatigue.
The lack of oxygen causes pain which is referred to as
pain crises. These pain attacks are usually sudden and
occur without warning, and a person would require going to
the hospital for effective treatment. Most children are
pain free between their painful crises, but adults on the
other hand may develop chronic pain.
People may
also feel:
Pain in the joints
Pain can be sudden in the chest
The whole body may become fatigue, dizziness, low oxygen
in the body. or discomfort.
Also common would be:
The abnormal breakdown of red blood cells, delayed
development, inflamed fingers or toes, shortness of
breath. or yellow skin and eyes.
