History of Dogs:
Dogs were domesticated from wolves as recently as 15,000 years ago. Evidence suggests
that dogs were first domesticated in East Asia. Overtime the
dog has developed into hundreds of breeds with a great
degree of variation.
Canine Reproduction:
In domestic dogs sexual
maturity occurs between the ages of six to twelve months for
both males and females although this can be delayed up until
two years from some large breeds.
Diet:
Dogs can be fed a pure kibble diet. They can also be fed a mixture of raw meat, fish, vegetables and rice. Many
owners may choose to feed their dogs raw meat. However
depending in the type of envioronment each dog is residing
in, they may have varius diets.
Habitat:
Dogs can live in several habitats including
praries, deserts, grasslands,
forests, rainforests, costal regions and
even artic zones. Dogs are highly adaptable yet some dogs
are evolved for only specific conditions.
Predators:
Predators include coyotes, wolves and birds of
prey such as hawks.
Status and Conservation:
Non natve and common. No conservation listing.
Roles Of Dogs:
Dogs perfom many roles for humans such as
hunting,herding, pulling loads, protection, aiding the
military and provide companionship for all.
