Water Sports on Long Island

There are endless activities for you to do with your time on the water.  Here are just a few of my favorites:

Water Skiing

Water Skiing Squirrel

Water skiing is one of the oldest tow sports, but still remains a favorite among boaters.  Skiing can be hard, but with the right boat and instructions, you will be up in no time!

The Air Chair

Air Chair

The air chair is one of the stranger tow sports, and has a hard learning curve, but once you learn there is nothing else like it.  An air chair consists of a board with a seat and a hydrofoil underneath.  There is very little drag because only the hydrofoil is in the water, making the air chair a great choice for people who have bad backs.

Kayaking

Kayak

Kayaking is a sport that anyone can participate in: you don't have to have access to a boat.  Many places all over the Island rent out kayaks.  Click on the picture for a link to find out more about kayak rentals at the Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay.  Kayaking allows you to explore places that are unreachable by a power boat, and kayaking is a great and easy sport that is perfect for both a whole day or just an hour.
