Tip #1: If you are a nursing major you should have access to the school
of
nursing on blackboard and moodle on the Adelphi ecampus website. If you
do not please call technical help at (516)877-3340 and
they will help you gain access.
Tip #2:There are two active curriculums for nursing on the Adelphi
Campus at
this time. The Nursing curriculum will be changing for the Freshman
entering in
the Fall of 2009.
If you have any further questions about your classes you should contact
your advisor or speak with some one in the Nursing office located on
the
second floor in Alumnae Hall.
Tip #3: Make sure your tuition has the correct amount charged to your
account because sometimes people get charged twice for things they
should not have been charged for or aren't chraged for anything they
will need later on.
Tip #4: Buying scrubs is expensive and we know it. Instead of buying
scrub pants through dove save some money and buy them in a nursing or
healthcare apparel clothing store. This is also a good place to buy you
stethescope. One type which is recommended and is considered the best
"bang for your buck" is the Littmann Classic. There is a picture of it
here or you can click it to buy one:
It is offered in a numerous amount of colors and you can see those here:

It is a great idea to buy a different colored stethescope so that you
do not mix up yours with someone elses.
Tip #5: Buying textbooks can also be very expensive. Many Adelphi
student send mass email to the school of nursing when they have books
for sale. Usually students will sell their used books for much less
than the school and in just as good quality. Another great idea is to
try to find the book on ebay or amazon. These are also great places to
sell your books.
Tip #6: Make sure you register for the classes you need and get them.
This keeps you on track to get your degree. If you take unnecessary
courses it may waste money and time.
Tip #7: Make sure that you are cleared for clinicals at least a month
before. This will make you life easier along with the schools. Make
sure you have taken your CPR course and have had a physical which
includes a titters blood test. If you are missing anything make sure
you will be able to get the shot before you clinicals.
Tip #8: Internships and small jobs in hospitals are great ways to get
ytour foot in the door. These small opportunities can open up doors for
the future. It can help you make connections with some amazing people
who may help you get a job later on.
Tip #9: Make sure to be professional, kind, and curteous while taking
clinical courses. You should remeber that you may be working on those
hospitals in the future. Do not text in class, be aware of what you are
doing and any special needs or conditions that the patient has, and be
curteous.
