The Dark Souls trilogy is a series of action
role-playing games developed by FromSoftware, a Japanese
development studio.
Each title has numerous similarities in terms of the overall
style of gameplay and design, but each one has a distinct
difference to its game play that the other two lack.
The first, Dark Souls I, is much more rigid, with a lot more
focus on shield play and defensive styles.
Dark Souls II is a lot more about planning out how one fights,
both through increased build options and more importance placed
on mechanics such as stamina management.
Dark Souls III, inspired heavily by Bloodborne, a similar game
released by FromSoftware the previous year, has much more focus
on speed, and an overall more aggressive play style.
