Spring Semester 2018
Coming back to school this past spring, I was ready to take on this semester full force and take in and enjoy every moment. However, I was thrown a few challenges that made this semester one to never forget.
Spring 1

The first day back, I was in a completely different mind set than how I was when I was the first day in the Fall Semester. I had a really great beak being home, trying to find my excitement for school again. Being home was time for me to find my excitement for school again. Both my parents came down with me again to send me off and being home I also found myself happy to get my independence of living on my own again. It was also really nice to see all my friends again that I hadn't seen for over a month. I was just ready to get this semester started!
Working OUt

Coming back to school my goals were to work out more and to spend more time with my friends. I would spend everyday either in dance class, at the gym, or taking group classes. This was a way for me to let go of stresses and feel good about myself by aiming for goals and setting myself up to be more healthier and stronger. I also went off campus with my friends more. We would go out to dinner, go to the movies, or just go for a walk around. Going off campus helps me distance myself from my schoolwork and find more fun in life at Adelphi.

Favorite Things

Another thing that helps me relieve stress is going to the studio and dancing. I was having some friend struggles and questioning a lot of things, but coming to the studio would help me find myself and find my happiness. Empty studios have a serene way that just clears out your mind. It is you, the music, and the room. That to me is the most beautiful thing in the world.

BoB

In February, I was able to be apart of Adelphi's Best of Broadway. I have taken on a minor in Theater this semester and also been more and more involved with the Music Department. This was such an incredible experience to get cast into this show. It was my first time singing by myself in front of an audience, and I loved every minute. I sang a duet called 'Happiness' from Rocky the Musical and was apart of many ensemble numbers from different musicals. I have missed doing musical theater so much, so doing this showed me how much this performing art means to me.
Concussion

March 26th was a day that put a big spin on this semester. I went to rehearsal to fill in for a friend and I got pulled flat onto my back and hit my head very badly. At the moment it felt fine, but the next day I was in the Emergency Room. After 8 weeks of different specialist, trying multiple medications and remedies, talking to concussion survivors, and sleeping all the time, I am still sitting out of classes. This concussion has added a very large stress to me with not dancing and not doing what I came here to do. As a dance major, it's so difficult because I physically cannot do what is being asked of me. Hopefully, after this summer of resting, I will be back and ready to go in the fall.

                loved

This semester has definitely not gone the way that I thought it would. There has been many physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges that I have faced. I have gone through things that in the end have made me feel stronger. Also having my true friends by my side and showing me how much they really care and love me has brought me so much strength to get through some of the really tough days. These relationships and lessons I have learned are ones that I am going to take with me wherever life may lay lead me.
