Born in Chicago Janelle Kroll relocated to New
York City to pursue her music career in 2013. Her song
"Barricade" reflects upon the struggles and complications of a
valuable relationship. In her thoughts, the song is a gesture of
a limitless love that holds too tight. The
music video was released in May 2017 and has 140,000 views on
Youtube. It was choreographed by Fisher and includes the members
and apprentices of the company. This was shot at the Brooklyn
Navy Yards in Brooklyn, NY using one continuous video by using a
drone. Music is by Kroll, it was directed by Jessica Beth Redish
and Patrick Kendall,
and drone operated
by Kenny Decker. This is an example of how we incorporate
multi-media platform within our work.
Things past
"Things Past" was created in 2016 by Tiffany
Rea-Fisher, with music by Paul Ukena and Pavel Zustiak. The
costumes were by Rachel Dozier-Ezell and lastly the lighting
Michael Cole. This piece is meant to expose the human behind the
dancer and performer. Fisher wanted to create something that can
showcase the artists abilities and unique qualities while giving
them a space to take into consideration their own work and
simultaneously creating their own interpretation.
Dreamtime
"Dreamtime" was made in 1986 by Elisa Monte herself that clearly
exhibits the company's ability through modern dance. The
choreographic technical and theatrical excellence is the essence
of the legacy she has implemented in the company. Inspired by
Australian Aboriginal dance, it is used to tell stories from
generation to generation. Monte attended a performance in downtown
Manhattan that went to South Street Seaport and then was inspired
to create this piece. The work is based upon the idea of a soloist
coming in and out of reality, this is shown through a series of
weaving lines. Monte states "The Aborigines believed that dream
time is as important and real as the waking day", something she
investigated within this piece.
