In 2005, Microsoft released a sequel to the
Xbox, titled the
Xbox 360. The system had HD
graphics and enhanced
online play. In 2006, the Nintendo
Wii and The
Playstation 3 were released. The Wii had a
revolutionary new
motion-sensing
controller, and
had
many
innovative
games made to
utilize that controller's
abilities.
The PS3 had
technology
similar to the
Xbox
360, but it
also had a
built-in blu-ray
player.
The Wii
ended up
outselling its
competition,
despite its
technological
shortcomings.
In 2011,
the Nintendo
3DS-which was
just a 3D DS,
was released
as a successor
to the original.
In 2012, Nintendo
released the Wii U,
Nintendo's first
HD console.
However, there
have been very
few games
released for
the system
to date. Sony and Microsoft have
already announced that they
will be releasing new consoles very soon.
