HER
INSPIRATION
Like many young children, Demi Lovato was
a victim of bullying. She was overweight around the age of
12, and was constantly bullied for it. As a result of the
bullying, Demi lost self-esteem and developed an eating
disorder. Later, she was also diagnosed with bipolar
disorder. She tried to put her problems aside in order to
focus on her career, but eventually she cracked under the
pressure. However, this did not stop Demi. She went to
rehabilitation to get the help she needed. She came out
stronger than ever, and partnered with the Jed Foundation
for the "Love is Louder Than the Pressure To Be Perfect"
Campaign. Through this campaign, Demi encourages everyone
to embrace their so-called "flaws" that make them who they
are. Demi got the words "Stay" and "Strong" tattooed to
each of her wrists to remind her to believe in herself
whenever she feels depressed or a need to cut her wrists
again. She portrays her struggles through her music and
continues to grow as a star.
