Starter Day Instructions - Due

If you have trouble, please do as much as you can and then come to class on 2/1. Because of the snow day, I will be there even though it was going to be an online day. I expect many people will need to come on 2/1 to fix up their photo albums as some of it is hard to understand.
1. Sign onto Moodle:
- In your web browser (preferrably internet explorer,
but firefox or seamonkey is okay) go to: ecampus.adelphi.edu
- Click on the "Login to ecampus" red banner.
- Enter your userid and password.
- Under "My Favorite Services" on the
right, click "Moodle CMS"
- Click your course, "Introduction To Computers And Their Applications".
2. Do Starter Day steps
1-10
3. Exit the starter day screen in order to take the Starter
Survey..
- In Moodle, click Starter Survey. Finish and click submit.
4. Do the Word Photo Album.
- In Moodle, click on "Photo Album"
- Then, click on the instructions at: http://home.adelphi.edu/~pe16132/csc170/assignments/word_day_assign.htm
- Read the instructions and then click on "photo album instructions".
These are the step by step instructions
- Click back and then click on "photo album movie tutorials". Mac
2008 is usually similar to Word 2003. Word 2010 is similar to Word 2007.
- When you are done following the instructions, go back to Moodle's "Photo
Album", scroll down and click "browse" to find your album and
then "upload" to send it to me.
5. Study for the quiz
- All the quiz items are listed under Moodle's "All Assignment Instructions"
- Click on "Online Starter and Word Day "
- Under "Mandatory Windows Explorer , Word and Irfanview Quiz Preparation"
click on "quiz
study guide".
At the end, you should have the following:
Installed all the software you need
Learned about different type of malware
Have completed the starter survey in Moodle
Have completed the Word Photo Album
TROUBLE??? Try this:
- Check whether you have an internet
connection at all. Try www.google.com and search for test. If it works,
you have an internet connection. If not, you can call your internet
provider or use the library PC.
- Check whether Adelphi's server is
up by typing www.adelphi.edu. If that works, the connection to Adelphi
is up.
- Try another browser.(Internet Explorer or Firefox)
- Call 877-3340 to explain the problem.
They are open on weekends and nights.
- Try again in 30 minutes. Sometimes Moodle does
go down.

- If you cannot get onto Moodle now, please skip
to the next step that does not involve Moodle , but come back to it the next
day. Being able to sign into Moodle is critical.
