In Performance

Below are some of my favorite clips of Shakespeare being performed. The images will link you to the video. Enjoy!

Midsummer Link
This is a clip from the Globe's 2014 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, featuring Pearce Quigley as the 'transformed' Bottom and Michelle Terry as Titania. The entire performance can be rented/purchased at The Globe Player!

Mark Rylance, who I consider to be the best actor alive today, doing one of Shakespeare's best and most famous speeches at the Globe in a production of Richard II back in 2003 - The Hallowed Crown speech.

Here is a much younger Mark Rylance masterfully giving the famous St. Crispin's Day speech in Henry V.

Patrick Stewart's incredible rendition of "Is this a dagger which I see before me?" from Macbeth.

This is David Tennant's 2009 Hamlet in the scene with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with one of my favorite passages: "I have of late, but wherefore I know not, lost all my mirth..." The passage itself begins around the 4:40 mark.

This video has 5 different 'To be or not to be's and was originally created to help students analyze the differences in the performance of Shakespeare. It features Kenneth Branagh, Sir Laurence Olivier, Mel Gibson, Richard Burton, and David Tennant. All are wonderful.
