Philanthropies History Fun Facts!

The sisterhood of Alpha Epsilon Phi was founded at Barnard College on October 24th 1909. At that time it was referred to as a "club" not a "sorority". Aephi was founded by seven Jewish women, Helen Phillips, Ida Beck, Rose Gerstein, Augustina Hess, Less Reiss, Rose Salmowitz, and Stella Strauss. These women combined their ideals of friendship, leadership, morals, desires, goals and respect and morals to form a sisterhood that so many women still cherish today, 101 years later.
