Skin types:
- The products you buy or should be based on
your own skin type. Do not buy something just because the
packaging looks nice or if someone you know likes it because
not all skin types are the same. What works for you might not
work for someone else and vice versa.
- Your are not limited to only using Korean
products for your routine, feel free to use other brands.
HOW TO *step by step*
#1 & 2 CLEANSERS aka. Double Cleanse
*If you are wearing makeup
you would double cleanse first with an oil-based cleanser and
then move on to a water-based cleanser*
*If you do not have makeup on, move straight to the
water-based cleanser*
OIL-BASED CLEANSER - Oil based cleansers allows for
effortless cleansing rather than tugging at your skin to remove
that last bit of mascara or foundation.
WATER-BASED CLEANSER - With a water based
cleanser, will remove any remaining residue and leaves skin
supple. The key is to find a gentle formula that won’t strip or
dry out your skin.
#3 EXFOLIATE
You don’t always have to exfoliate (especially if you have sensitive
skin), but exfoliating at least twice a week is crucial for clear,
polished skin. This will remove dead skin cells which makes it
possible for the rest of your skin care products to do its job.
Gently massage an exfoliant into your skin for smooth and silky
skin.
#4 TONER
To balance the skin's pH levels, it's important to apply toner;
otherwise the skin can become dry and dehydrated. Toner further
helps to absorb the next products you apply. So after cleansing
your face, take a cotton pad and soak it up with the toner of
choice. Gently rub your face with the toner and you will see left
over dirt that the cleansers left behind. Don't forget to take it
down the neck!
#5 ESSENCE
Many people confuse essences and serum but essences tend to be a bit
more fluid and less concentrated than serums. Their main purpose is
to moisturize the skin and make the most of the serums that follow.
Think of your skin as a sponge: once it’s plumped up with water,
everything else absorbs more easily. Put a couple of pumps or drops
of essence in your hand and gently pat your face along with your
neck.
#6 SERUM
Serums are made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply
into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active
ingredients which target specific needs by skin type, such as fine
lines, loss of firmness, hyper pigmentation and dehydration. They are
generally thicker compared to essences which is why you would use it
after an essence. Just like essence, put a couple drops on hand and
pat.
#7 SHEET MASK
Sheet masks provide you with a quiet, meditative, and
skin-nourishing ritual that imparts maximum treatment to your skin.
Use any type of sheet mask you want and wait for 15-20 minutes.
After the time is up remove the mask and gently pat your face as sheet fabrics are soaked in nutrition-packed
solution. However, if you do not like the feeling you can
rise it off. Use one at least once or twice a week or every single
day if you’d like.
#8 EYE CREAM
The skin around your eyes is thinner and more easily dehydrated so
find a eye cream that best suits what you want to treat such as de-puffing, brightening, dark circle-banishing and
hydrating the under eye. When applying eye cream, take only a pea
sized amount as little goes a long way and from there tap your
finger(s) gently around the eyes and onto the lid.
#9 MOISTURIZER
Find a moisturizer that works for your skin type. Pat the
moisturizer into your face and neck morning and night every single
day. On days when your skin feels extra parched, swap your regular
moisturizer for a sleeping pack. *If this is a night time
routine, you would end here with a moisturizer*
#10 SPF
Only put SPF in the morning not at night!! Applying sunscreen is
important as it will shield your skin from the harmful UV rays.
Sunscreen is important through out all the seasons so every morning,
finish off your skincare regimen with sunscreen. For makeup wearers,
find a foundation that contains SPF or buy a light weight sunscreen
which won't disrupt your makeup.
