Dear
Parents
and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. As you know, your child is
enrolled in alternate day physical education class. Physical Education
is part of the total education process. It provides opportunities for
the physical, emotional, mental, and social growth of each child. The
curriculum focuses upon individual, small group, and large group
activities involving varied skills and social interactions. The
Physical Education teacher emphasizes the following areas in reporting
your child’s progress.
Grading:
- Students
will be based upon their effort, skill development and proficiency
(work up to ability), teamwork, preparation and behavior. ( See Rubric )
Class
Participation:
- Attendance is taken at the start of each class.
- Each student is
required to have proper attire for the day’s activities. This includes
appropriate length shorts, t-shirts (no tank tops), socks, and sneakers.
- Failure to dress in the required manner will result in an
unprepared for the day.
- Students that are unprepared for class will not be allowed
to participate in that day’s activities. This includes after school
activities for student athletes.
Medical
Excuses:
- Students excused from physical education must have a
doctors’ note.
- To make up class and receive a participation grade the
student will be required to do a sport report, or depending on the
injury officiate or judge the class activity.
Accidents/Injuries:
- Students are to report all injuries and accidents to the
Physical Education teacher immediately. An injury may appear very minor
at the time; however, it can develop into something more serious. All
cases will be referred to the nurse.
Rules
& Safety:
- Sneakers must be worn during Physical
Education
- Special safety rules for each game and activity will be
explained when taught.
- Shoelaces must be completely tied for each
class.
- Jewelry
must be removed for class.
