UNDERGRADUATE
STUDENTS Jennifer Yong I started working in Dr. Chakraborty's lab in Fall 2008. I worked on the project titled 'Does estrogen and leptin effect the estrous cycle of ob/ob and ovariectomized mice?' I presented at Adelphi University's Annual Research Conference. My future plans are to graduate Adelphi with a B.S. in Biology and attend either graduate school for Physical Therapy or Medical School to study osteopathic medicine. Ka Yan Ng I started research with Dr. Chakraborty in the fall semester of 2008. During this time, I’ve had the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and hand-on experience in various aspects of the lab. I’ve also become involved with Dr. Chakraborty’s research project on the Effect of estrogen and leptin in the estrous cycle of ob/ob and ovariectomized mice. I’ve attended and presented in the 2009 ASBMB annual meeting in New Orleans. After graduating from Adelphi University in 2011 I would like to attend dental school. GRADUATE STUDENTS Irene Min I started in Dr.
Chakraborty's lab in
Spring 2008. My thesis is on 'Neuronal protection by estrogen from
glucose deprivation in hypothalamic cells'. I coauthored with Melinda
Loera, a graduate student and made an oral presentation in the
International meeting of American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology held at Alumini Atrish
