Description:
Set in the late 1800's this is the story of the prequel
before Mortal Instruments. The story follows Tessa,
William and Jem as Tessa is tricked and kidnapped in
Europe because of a power she has that no one else does.
She's saved by William and Jem who throughout the series
share a love for her. All three do all they can to prevent
the dreaded Mortamin from kidnapping Tessa for his
clockwork demon army.

Personal Experience
I personally loved this book more than the Mortal Instruments. I felt like I connected with each character individually. The book was a trilogy that ran for about 600 pages per week. It took me 2 weeks to finish and I couldn't put it down at all.
The main reason I preferred this series over Mortal Instruments is because the main character Tessa, though the same age as Clary, was much more grown up for her age. She did not whine or complain once. I also liked how all three of them were incredibly close and not one favored the other.
