For all scatter diagrams in this assignment, you have the choice to make them by hand or using SPSS. If you use SPSS, make sure you include your name as a footnote when creating the graph in SPSS.

Read Section 9.1 of the Brase text.
Read and practice Section 4.4 in the Cronk text.
Do the following guided exercises from the Brase text (do not submit):
  • Guided Exercises 1 & 2 on pages 532-533
  • Guided Exercise 3abde on page 538-539 (use the TI-84 for part d)
    Do the following exercises (submit through Moodle or in class):
  • [18 pts.] From Brase Textbook: page 542 #4,6 - must explain each part of each question in sentences to receive any credit
  • [12 pts.] From Brase Textbook: page 543 #10,12
  • [20 pts.] From Brase Textbook: page 544 #16 - Additional notes for part c: Ignore the sentence starting with "Use a calculator". Make sure to compute r and do the rest of part c. If you use technology (SPSS or TI-84) for part c, explain specifically how you used SPSS or TI-84 to get your answer. (Also note: you do not need to use the additional data from the website mentioned in the question)

    Read Section 9.2 of the Brase text.
    Do the following guided exercises from the Brase text (do not submit):
  • Guided Exercise 4 on pages 555-557 - omit parts b,c. For part e, use the formula given in class and on the PowerPoint to find the slope (b) instead of the formula in the Brase textbook.
  • Guided Exercise 5 on page 560 - omit part a, but use the result of part a to do the rest of the question.
    Do the following exercises (submit through Moodle or in class):
  • [40 pts.] From Brase Textbook: page 562 #8,16: For each problem, follow directions on the bottom of page 561/top of page 562. Omit part b & ignore the given values under the table. Use 2-var stats on the TI-84 to do part c. Make sure to do part f.
  • [10 pts.] From Brase Textbook: page 562 redo #8c: using the formulas given on Slide 7 of the Lesson 20 PowerPoint.
