Part One: Ungraded Portion
Read Sections A, B, and C of Module 3 in the Computer Concepts text.
Check your understanding by completing the Quick Quizzes on pages 171, 185, and 199. (Check the answers in the back of the textbook.)


Part Two: Graded Portion
In a Microsoft Word file uploaded to Moodle with a filename of hw3-LastName, where LastName is replaced by your last name:
1. [50 pts. total] Type Sections A, B, and C (NOT D or E) of the Interactive Summary on Pages 234-235.
  • Type up the whole paragraph for each section, not just the words for the blanks.
  • For each blank, fill in the missing word and make it bold and underlined. Do not draw a box around it. Make sure nothing extra is bold and underlined, such as space before or after the word.
    2. [50 pts. total] Answer each question in one or more full sentences (make sure to run Spell and Grammar Check & make the appropriate corrections!):
  • a) Name the three ways to classify a network & give an example of each.
  • b) Give a reason to use a wired network over a wireless network. Give a reason to use a wireless network over a wired network.
  • c) What is an IP address and what is its purpose? What is a domain name and what is its purpose?
  • d) Go to http://www.bandwidthplace.com and run a speed test to find out the current speed of your Internet connection. State the download speed, upload speed, ping rate, and provider.
  • e) Read the article on Page 226 of the Computer Concepts text. Define net neutrality in a single sentence. Then, give at least one pro and at least one con.
