due Sun Oct 12

Answer the following questions about the TI-84 calculator in full sentences in a single Microsoft Word file named hw7-LastName.doc (where LastName is replaced by your last name):

[ 1 pt. ] 1a. Use the TI-84 to find f'(2) for f(x)=x3. Explain how to find your answer.
[ 1 pt. ] 1b. What is the point-slope form of the equation of the tangent line to f(x)=x3 at x = 2?
[ 1 pt. ] 1c. Use the TI-84 to find the intersection point of f(x) = x^3 and the line from #2b. Explain why this result makes sense mathematically.
[ 1 pt. ] 2. Use the TI-84 to find the definite integral of e-x2 on the interval [1,3]. Explain how you found your answer.
[3 pts.] 3. For the sequence an = 33-n:
a) Find the first 5 terms of the sequence on the TI-84 using 2nd->STAT->OPS->5: seq. Explain how to graph this sequence of 5 terms on the TI-84.
b) Find the first 5 partial sums for the series {an} on the TI-84 using 2nd->STAT->MATH->5: sum.
c) Graph these partial sums on the TI-84 & explain how you can use this graph to make a conjecture about whether the series may converge or not.
[2 pts.] 4. Use the TI-84 to find the value of csc(3.14 / 6) and the value of csc(π / 6). Explain why the two values are not quite equal.
[ 1 pt. ] 5. Use the TI-84's DMS command to find the whole number of minutes and whole number of seconds in 0.22 degrees.
