Answer the following questions in a single Excel file (with multiple sheets/tabs) named hw3-LastName.xls (where LastName is replaced by
your last name):
1. [2 pts.] Make a table & graph for g(x) = (sin x)/x, at x = -1, -0.1, -0.01, 0, 0.01, 0.1, 1.
Does the limit of g(x) as x-->0 exist? Explain why or why not based on your table.
2. [2 pts.] Using the method on pg.65 of the Excel
Math Guide, find the derivative of f(x) = x2 at x = 3.
3. [2 pts.] Do the "check it out" activity on the bottom of page 66 in the Excel Math Guide.
4. [2 pts.] Create a table where column 1 = x-values from -3 to 3 (inclusive) with increment 0.5, column 2 = values of f(x) = x3, column 3 = values of f'(x), and column 4 = values of f''(x). Then, display the graphs of f(x), f'(x), and f''(x) on a single set of coordinate axes.
5. [2 pts.] For f(x) = x3, estimate the definite integral of f(x) with respect to x on the interval [0,2] using the Midpoint Rule & 4 subintervals.
