CSC 161 Fall 2024 - Homework 4 (10 pts. total)
Assigned Wed Sep 18, due Wed Sep 25

Answer the following questions in a single Excel file (with multiple sheets/tabs) named hw4-LastName.xls (where LastName is replaced by your last name):

1. [ 1 pt. ] Use the Excel function PI() to find PI to 6 decimal places.

2. [3 pts.] For the function f(x) = cos x:
       a) Set up a table of values with 2 columns: x & f(x). For the x-values, use 0, 30π/180, 60π/180, ..., 330π/180, 2π. For the f(x) values, make sure they are accurate to 8 decimal places.
       b) Graph y = cos x on [0, 2π].

3. [ 2 pts. ] Solve #12 from the January 2019 Algebra 1 Regents (using Regression). Be sure to show in Excel how to get from their equation of y=e(some number) to the answer choice you select for the Regents question.

4. [4 pts.] Use the data below, for the raw test score based on the hours tutored, to answer the questions that follow (round all values to the nearest hundredth).
Hours Tutored1234567
Raw Test Score 30 37 35 47 56 67 62
a) Find the linear regression equation.
b) Find the predicted y-values for x = 1 through x = 7.
c) Find the residuals (Actual value - predicted value) for x = 1 through x = 7.
d) Create a residual plot. (When creating the graph, highlight only the 2 columns for x & the residuals.)
