CSC 160 Spring 2006 - Homework 2
Assigned Jan 31, due SUNDAY Feb 5

Read Sections 1.0 and 1.1 of this draft chapter.

Do exercise 1.1.2
A. Fill in the table. [10 points]
B. At what position is X shot all the time? [5 points]
C. Formulate an algebraic formula that describes the relationship between t and Y for the shot. [10 points]
D. Test the algebraic formula with the examples from your table. [10 points]
E. If you find a mistake, does it have to be in the formula? Could it be in the table? Or both? [10 points]
F. Also formulate an algebraic formula that specifies what X is given the current value of t. [5 points]

Do exercise 1.1.4
A. Use these formulas to develop the function shot-X and shot-Y, which consume t and compute the X and Y coordinates for the shot. [shot-X = 10 pts., shot-Y = 20 pts.]
B: Test the functions with inputs from figure 2 (or your table from Question 1.1.2). Compare the results with the expected outputs from the table. [shot-X = 10 pts., shot-Y = 10 pts.]
