CSC 160 Fall 2007 - Homework 4

Read the PSP Chapter 3 handout, given out in class on Mon Sept 24, before class on Fri Sept 28.

Log the time you spend on this assignment using a log sheet with all the same columns as the one attached to the PSP Chapter 3 handout. For your convenience, I have attached a blank Microsoft Excel copy of it here.

Read this Pair Programming article.

Read Chapter 5 of Dr. Bloch's textbook.

Do the following exercises in the Definitions Pane of DrScheme. For exercises 5.2.1 and 5.2.4, you need to include three test cases in the Interactions Pane. For exercises 5.3.2a and 5.3.2c, please comment out those answers, as they are not Scheme code.
  • Exercise 5.2.1 on page 48-49: vert-mirror-image from Dr. Bloch's textbook.
  • Exercise 5.2.4 on page 50: surround from Dr. Bloch's textbook.
  • Exercise 5.3.2a from Dr. Bloch's textbook (relating to 5.2.1 only)

  • Exercise 5.3.2c from Dr. Bloch's textbook (relating to 5.2.4 only)


    • Do the following box diagram exercises from Dr. Bloch's textbook on paper:
  • Exercise 5.6.3a (drawing a box diagram for your solution to 5.2.1)
  • Exercise 5.6.3c (drawing a box diagram for your solution to 5.2.4)


    Submitting your Assignment
    Please submit your Box Diagrams (and possibly your Log Sheet) on paper in class by the due date.

    Please submit your Definitions Pane and Interactions Pane (and possibly your Log Sheet), using the Digital Dropbox in the Tools menu on Blackboard. Be sure to include your first and last name in the Name Box on Blackboard, and click Send File (not Add File)!

    The file name for the Definitions Pane needs to be "hw4[section][LastName]Def.scm" where:
  • [section] is replaced by -01 for the 9am class and -02 for the 10am class.
  • [LastName] is replaced with your last name.
  • For example, if I were submitting this assignment and I were in the 10am class, I would name the file "hw4-02WittensteinDef.scm".

    Similarly, the file name for the Interactions Pane needs to be "hw4[section][LastName]Int.scm", and the file name for the Log Sheet needs to be "hw4[section][LastName]".

    Please let me know if this is not clear or if you are unsure exactly what filename to use. Part of your grade is using the correct filenames.
