Arguments to support my position:
- Many future jobs/careers today require some level of computer
skills
- "
Early initiatives promoted the provision of equipment to
support
courses that would prepare students with the skills for
participation in an increasingly technological workplace" (
Albion, 1999)
- It can aid in teaching students with different learning styles
-
"Eventually,
computer-teaching systems will diagnose students' learning
problems on the spot, based on data collected from the
students' interaction with the software, then design
appropriate interventions"( Clemmitt, 2011 ).
- Computers, the internet, and technology is already for the
most part, part of students lives outside school so it makes
sense to teach them in such way.
-
"The first thing Steve Mann does in the morning is shower,
shave and have breakfast. Then, as he heads out the door, he
grabs his lunch and puts on his computer...Mann's computer is
“wearable.” Featuring a headset with a video camera and a vest
with sensors that monitor his body functions, the computer
helps him get through the day. When he's lost, it harnesses
the global positioning satellite (GPS) and a database of local
maps to tell him which street to take" ( Marshall, 2000).
- "By focusing on internet searching, it zooms
in on an area of skill that is centrally important to
contemporary life, but which is often taken for granted.
Purposefully and effectively locating information on
the internet and being able to interpret and make use
of it is an essential contemporary skill, supporting
learning and leisure both in and out of school, and it is
an area of skill that is being supported in our youngest
school learners by early years literacy teachers" (.
