Due Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Computer systems consist of much more than the processor itself: it also has memory, external storage (usually a hard disk, but it can also include CD or DVD drives, etc.), monitor, keyboard and other peripheral devices.

To get a good idea of what devices your computer has, you can use the Control Panel to examine what devices comprise your system.

Go to the Control Panel from the Start menu (if necessary, click the item that says "Switch to Classical View"), and then choose System. You should see a window on the screen with the title "System Properties" and several tabs. Start with the tab that says "General."

This window should list the:

System_____________________________________

Processor ___________________________________ _______________ GHz

Memory________________________________________________

Click on the tab labeled Hardware and then choose Device Manager. Copy on the type of device that it lists:

Monitors _________________________________________________________

Mice and other pointing devices_______________________________________

Disk Drives _______________________________________________________
