Extra Credit Assignment - Hardware Quiz - Due 10/16/03

Option 1: Tell me of an assignment that will show that you understand the difference between input and output devices, hardware and software, ram and hard disk, motherboard and chip, laser jet and ink jet. If I approve it on Tuesday 10/14, you can hand it in on Thursday 10/16.

Option 2: (This will give you 20 points on the quiz, bringing you to a maximum of 105.) Using the map below, write the path (listing all devices that would be passed in the information's travelling) that the computer takes to perform the following operations:

1) Open a word document by selecting Start/ Documents and then choosing a document that is stored on the C drive.

2) Sort a very large spreadsheet (stored on the hard drive) by selecting the sort command on an open excel spreadsheet.

In both cases, start from the keyboard or mouse and end with the monitor. (The mouse and monitor are not pictured, but please include them.)
