Message Board Policy

The Office of Information Technology Resources (OITR) maintains the message board and has established policies governing message board usage by members of the Adelphi University community.

This policy is subject to change at any time. Please check back regularly for the policy currently in effect.

The message board is for the enjoyment of members of the Adelphi University community. We encourage an open and honest exchange of ideas and expect all users of the message board to respect the rights of others. Messages posted on the message boards are monitored. Any messages considered offensive or in violation of Adelphi University policies will be removed. Since this is a manual process, offensive messages may not be removed immediately, but will be deleted as soon as possible.

Messages posted on the message board are the views of the author of the message only and do not necessarily reflect the opinions and policies of Adelphi University.

Users of the message board should employ common sense when posting messages. Users of the message board agree not to post anything false and defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of law. Users further agree to be solely responsible for and hold Adelphi University unaccountable in the event of any claim based on their message.

Messages that are posted for advertising purposes to promote the buying, selling or trading of any commercial product, service or item are not allowed. Posts containing personal advertisements, such as want ads and personal items or notification of events, are allowed.

While it is impractical to list every possible violation of Adelphi University policies, the policy stated above serves as a guideline for message board usage. The OITR reserves the right to suspend message board privileges of anyone found violating the above policies.

For questions regarding the use of the message board, please contact customerservices@adelphi.edu.
