User Manual and Installation guide and Burn Down Chart

The user manual should serve the following purposes:

• train a new user
• serve as a reference for an existing user who forgot how something worked
• troubleshooting guide when something goes wrong
• explain how to maintain or purge as the years progress in using this project

  It should have a cover page, table of contents, preface, and system overview blurb, just as the rest of your documents have. Then, include sections that make sense to your project. Include screen shots where necessary and be specific about keystrokes required.

The installation guide should serve as a step by step guide to installing this on a new system. Either include an installation guide inside the user manual or make it its own document. It should also guide them through re-installing the system. It should have a cover page, table of contents, preface, and system overview blurb, just as the rest of your documents have. Then, include sections that make sense to your project. Include screen shots where necessary and be specific about keystrokes required.

I have attached a user manual to one of my systems. The one document includes the installation and user guide combined. Yours does not have to be this complex.
