Web Greeting Card

In this week you learned how to create Links, insert Pictures and format pages by choosing one of the two learning options (Seamonkey tutorials or Code Academy). In this assignment, you will use those skills to change your home page to be a web greeting card to someone you know. It will need to contain all the elements in the Greeting Card Requirements, but you have freedom to make it look however you want.

Requirements for Greeting card and Web Design Tools are listed below. When you are done, ask someone who is not on your PC to look at the web site to ensure they see the same thing you do. Then upload a document with your web address and any problems you had to moodle.

Learning Goals of the greeting card: This project helps you learn the details of how to create html, either using SeaMonkey or editing html directly. You will find that working with SeaMonkey is just like working with Word, fairly intuitive and really just document editing. You will realize that html documents do not include pictures or multiple pages, but instead link to the pictures and pages using filenames that have to match exactly. You will also see how a web server works at a lower level than most online web site makers. You will see how you can code html just by placing the right filename into the right folder on the right web server, in our case panther. Why are we doing this? Being familiar with how HTML works and having found ease with at least one tool will make it easier to quickly learn whatever tool manages the web site at your work. It also gives you free very basic tools to let you quickly create web pages that would either enhance a project in school, or create a site to help a small business.

Check out what your classmates are creating by looking at the class web sites link at the bottom of moodle.
