What?

- Mechanism to run a show and go forward, backwards and drop objects
onto a page

Parts of a presentation
- Presentation file - a group of slides
- Slide - one page of a show
- Object - one system identifiable part of a slide
- Slide Master - controls the base format of all slides (header,
footer, default fonts)
- Title - Slide label; Slide Master would determine whether this
would print on the slide
- Body - Slide major content box; has its own formatting defaults
- View - Nomal, Outline, Slide, Slide Show, and Slide Sorter
- Template - like in all office applications, a blueprint for the
basic slide format, color, and font
New Presentation
- New Slide prompt: AutoContent Wizard, Template, Blank
- New Slide tabs: General, Design Template, Presentations
- For your project use, auto content provides a good basis, but you
will need to put much more into one area and can take away others
- Even when you choose blank, it will still ask you for a basic
layout choice.
- Add a new slide with Insert / new slide, or New page button Common
Tasks / new slide (but common tasks doesn't give layout choice)
Editing Text
- Press Enter at the end of a paragraph
- Assumes bullets
- Indent with tab or demote arrow; Outdent with Shift+Tab or promote
arrow
- Autofit (which is a tools option) will keep making your text
smaller to fit in the body text box
- Bullets - format bullets and numbers - choose pictures or clip
art; can use motion clips; characters are symbols
- Change case with Format / Change Case
- Delete - edit / delete slide
- Change the layout - format / slide layout or toolbar button
Copying slides from other presentations
- Position on the slide before which you want the new slides to
appear
- Then, choose Insert / slides from file
Moving through pages while designing
- Page up and page down move you through slides
- Ctrl / home and Ctrl / end go to first and last slide
- Scroll bar in slide or normal view
- Click on slide in navigation bar in slide view or normal view or
outline
- Click on slide in slide sorter view
Views
- Normal - see navigation bar; enter slide; enter notes
- Outline - see large navigation bar; collapse and expand; create a
summary slide; enter slide; enter notes
- slide sorter - move slides around; create a summary slide; select
a slide; select to add notes; slide transition
- slide view - enter full slide; small navigation bar
- slide show - plays a slide
Moving through a slide show:
- esc to cancel and edit
- forward: space, N, mouse click
- backward: backspace, P,
- # enter to reach a page
- right click - shows a menu of play options
- choose pointer from context menu and then you can draw - then E
erases
- choose meeting minder - minutes and action items

Printing
- Choose type (slide, handout, note, outline)
- Choose color - pure black and white or greyscale or normal
- Choose handouts - how many per page
Animation

Header and Footer

Inserting pictures
- choose picture template or just paste picture onto the box. Then,
order to bring correct object forward.
- resize picture on display
- use internet to find clip art
- watch files sizes on pictures
- use any graphics editor to resize and resample the picture to make
is smaller if it is too large to backup
- I found inserting my pictures in word and then copying and pasting
worked well
Drawing Bar
- use drawing bar and office art to create mini-art
- view / toolbars / drawing
- draw a happy face, turn it upside down, and fill it with color,
and draw a line under it.
- draw a circle with hello in it and add a shadow to it; then make
it 3d
- create a happy birthday word art
Transition setting - Slide Show / Slide Transition
or right click on slide sorter view
- Transition method - way slide fades in
- Transition timing - automatic or on click
- Transition sound
- Can rehearse timing to set timings through the rehearsal (don't
need to know this)
Hyperlinks
- can create drill down links on any object or text
- select text or object and then the world tool or insert /
hyperlink

Packaging - NOT REQUIRED
- Pack and Go Wizard - includes all files; helpful if you have
linked files
- Can then e-mail or move to another PC
- Convert to html to place on the internet as html
- Can also just insert a power point component using a web design
tool, but user needs PPT installed

- Table (or you can just insert table, or copy from word)
Creating a presentation in word - NOT REQUIRED
- Use tab for subheadings and bullets
- File / send to / powerpoint and it will be your outline
