Should Music Sharing be legal?

"The music industry is now confronted with millions of music-hungry people who routinely share MP3 files via the internet, both commercially and non-commercially. Movies are also starting to be shared."

Items to consider:

"In the eyes of the music industry, if you receive an MP3 file containing copyrighted music, then you are receiving stolen goods."

When people tape concerts and then make and share MP3 files of the music, is it unethical or illegal?

When people use a digital camera to view a movie and then share those files, is it unethical or illegal?

Aspiring artists can be heard via the internet, where a record company would not want to pay to advertise that artist. Is that a valuable service to society?

Music sharing often involves peer-to-peer technology. Using that at work opens the security of a computer network. Should that be illegal? Is it illegal?
