STEP Day 3 - Web design
We are going to make a web greeting
card using a free tool you can use at home to make quick colorful pages:
(At home, you can download from http://www.seamonkey-project.org/start/)
Look at last class's sites at www.adelphi.edu/~pe16132 Click on STEP160 and then 2013 - 2014 Class Websites
If you want to get your work from last class onto your system so you can change it:

Go to drive.google.com
·
Signon on as Adelphistep
·
Password :
·
See your folder
·
Right click your folder
·
Choose download
·
Click download again (leaving it 'as
is')
·
Click where it says "click here
to download"
·
Either choose to save it to your
desktop or move it to your desktop from downloads after you are done.
·
It downloads as a zipped folder. You
need to unzip it.

Right click on the folder
o
Choose "extract to" and
your folder name
o
Right click on the folder name and
rename it to remove the date google added
o
You now have a file on your desktop
with last week's work

to create your website
1)
Create a new folder on your desktop
to hold your work:
a.
Right click on your desktop
b.
File / new / folder enter
c.
Rename the folder to your last name

Open Seamonkey
a.
Start / program / Seamonkey /
seamonkey
b.
Window / composer

Open your index: (or create a new
one)
a.
File / open file /
b.
Desktop / your last name folder /
index.html

Basic page:
a.
Write a greeting to your friend or
relative

Set the title
a.
Choose the menu option format
b.
Choose the option “page title and
properties”
c.
Type what you want to appear at the
top of the window, perhaps web greeting to <name>

Make a web link
a.
Type and Highlight "Where I
learned to create a page" and click link button
b.
Link to http://www.adelphi.edu
c.
Type and Highlight the name of a
website your card recipient would like
d.
In another window, Go to that
website in internet explorer (not chrome)
e.
Right click and Copy the website
address
f.
Go back to your seamonkey and
highlight the name of the website you wrote
g.
Click link
h.
Paste the web address

Add a picture
a.
Right click on any picture your card
recipient will like
b.
Choose save picture as
c.
Change the name to something short
with no spaces
d.
Save into your last name folder
e.
Go back to your page
f.
Insert / image and choose your file.

Make a background
a.
Go to www.grsites.com
b.
Click on choose archives and then background
textures
c.
Choose a color
d.
Right click on the picture and
choose save picture as
e.
Change the name to something short
with no spaces
f.
Save into your last name folder
g.
Go back to your page
h.
Choose the menu option format
i.
Choose page colors and background
j.
Click choose file
k.
Select the picture file

Link to a bookmark
a.
Insert named anchor
b.
Type the name of the place you are
at
c.
Write the words you want to click
d.
Insert link / down arrow to choose
the place.
10)
Link to another page
a.
File / new / page
b.
Type something on the page
c.
File / save as somename
d.
Close the page
e.
On the other page, write the words
you want to click
f.
Insert / link and click browse.
g.
Double click your new page.
When you are done, upload all files
to my google account: adelphistep

If you see your folder from before,
delete it first.

Right click and choose remove
·
See the orange button with the word
create - click on the upload arrow
·
Choose folder
·
Choose your web folder. (your last
name)
