Argues Against:

2 arguments against my position are:

1.     Social media has the ability to bring people together.
Social media allows for increased community engagement- allowing teens to get involved in projects such as raising money for charities as well as volunteering. (
Okeefe and Pearson 801)

2.      Teenagers gain increased social skills as they connect with others online.

One example of such skills is the ability to explore one's identity. Social media has allowed individuals to learn more about themselves. (Uhls et al S68)

More than 90% of teens who use social media do so to connect with friends everyday. (Uhls et al S68)
