William Lane's plot is Section 30, lot 114.
{image=w30.114lane.gif}

Buried in Sect 30, lot 114 are:
*WILLIAM LANE (d 1891 91 yrs)
in "N W corner" and his wife .... (~1799-1891}
*MARY B LANE (d 1879 75 yrs) -they are the great grandparents of my grandma ("Nan") {~1804-1879}
*ANNA B CHAMBERLAIN (d 1876 age 38) one of two Lane daughters, 30 114 _ NEA lot (or) A lot NE
{~1858-1876}

Several Lane grandchildren who died young are also buried in this plot:
*William L Earl (d 1863 1 yr old) mother would be Margaret B Earl, other Lane daughter).
*William L. Chamberlain (d 1863 1 yr old)
*Lane Baby Wm (d 1866 "s. born" )
-probably son of Wm B. Lane (son of Wm. & Mary B Lane)
*Anne Chamberlain (d 1869, 2 yrs old)
*Elvira Chamberlain (d 1869 4 mo.)
*Josie E Erwin (d 1879 age 6 yrs)

relationship unknown Also in this plot:
*Margaret Palmer (d 22 May 1863, 3 yrs old)
("city vault") - 30.114 grv 1 Earliest burial in this plot. Same address as later recorded for Wm Lane, which suggests some sort of relationship to the family(?)

How to find Section 30:
You could begin at E 71 St., close to Woodland Ave. (On this map, Woodland on is on your left and & E 7 St. at the bottom, Quincy is way to your right, parallel to Woodland, beyond flag pole.) Section 54 (long & narrow) borders E 71 and runs from the flag pole walk leftward almost to Woodland Ave. Above 54 (L to R) are Sections18, 19, 20 and then above these, Sections17, 30, 29 & 31.

Note: "Nan's mother (MARY Chamberlain EDWARDS) is in the Earl plot, but her father (DAVID EDWARDS) is buried alone, in Sect NEA _Tier 2 Grave 171 ... perhaps there was no more room in either plot, he was the last to die of TB in that 4-5 yr period. As for WILLIAM CHAMBERLAIN father of Mary & Charles, husband of Anna B. Lane), I've found no trace of him after 1877 or so.

William Earl's plot is Sect 8C, lot 24
{image=w8c.24earl.gif2}

To find it, start at the corner of Woodland Ave & E 66th St. Going from L->R, you will find sections 98, 97, 88 along the street and below these last two, section 8 begins. It's crescent-shaped, lies between 10 and 5 o'clock on a clock face, basically one section in from the corner. Or go from the flag pole walking towards E 66th (with Woodland Ave on your left) - you pass 26, 25, 24 and if you cut left through the middle of 24 (before Sect 10), you should get close to Section 8C. Lot 24 appears to be in the outer band of this part of the crescent.

Charles Chamberlain's plot is Sect 81, lot 19.
{w81.19chamb.gif}
The map below lists who is buried in this plot.

* CHARLES CHAMBERLAIN 1 (age 44, 1900) - brother of Mary Edwards & Eliz. Chamberlain; son of Anna B Lane & Wm Chamberlain {~1856-1900}
* CAROLINE McLeod CHAMBERLAIN (age 50, 1902) - his wife (Caroline's brother Charles married Jane Lane, grandau of Wm Lane) {~1852-1902
* CHARLES F CHAMBERLAIN 2 (age 35, 1920) - their son (Charles F married Beatrice M Lewis) (~1885-1920}

Peter Haggerty (d 1917)& Lydia Stanbridge Haggerty (d 1914) are also buried in this plot. Possibly they owned the other half (?) or were somehow related to the Chamberlains.

As for Charles & Jane Lane MCLEOD & her family, most are buried in the East Cleveland Township Cemetery . Volunteers have transrbed its records and are restored this nice old cemetery. They would welcome a donation from us.

Note: We don't know what happened to BEATRICE CHAMBERLAIN (wife of Charles F Chamberlain) after the 1910 census, which lists them with no children. His death record (1920) says "shipper Trenton, NJ"; he is buried in his father's grave.

DAVID EDWARDS Sect NEA lot _ Tier 2 Grave 171 {~1854-1879}
Died age 25, "Infirmary", buried 21 Aug 1879 This is Mary Chamberlain Edward's husband (Nan's father). He is buried in an individual grave, not in the family plots. Note: The Woodland map I have does NOT show where Section NEA is - possibly what the cemetery wrote down was incomplete??

THE LANE FAMILY TODAY: We are descended from Anna B LANE, the youngest child of Wm & Mary B LANE that we know of. Probably their two sons (William B & Richard Lane) also have living descendants - they would be our distant cousins. We are the 6th generations of Lanes in America - Wm & Mary B came to Cleveland from England, sometime between 1838 & 1851. Surnames from the male side of the Lane family include: ANDERSON, COLE, GUENTHER, HUSSEY, KASTNING, LARRISSEY, MARSHALL, MULL, PEPPLE, PETTIS, STAHL. And on our side (from Anna Lane), you find the surnames CHAMBERLAIN, EDWARDS and KILLCREAS and then us, Nan's grandchildren) and our children and grandchildren - none of us are still in Cleveland - tho most still east of the Mississippi.

Now, all up on website (text with
GIF images of each plot),which um should make it easy for you
to save & print. If you want me to email the text &/or images separately,
lemme know.
This is the text file without images! There is a link at
the top of its page that will take you to the whole document, with cem. plots
