My information to date is primarily based on CUYAHOGA CO., OHIO Archives, Federal Census records, Cleveland city directories & the Mormon site. I gleaned alot from these sources, plus family & cemetery records. But what would really help to fill the remaining gaps would be CHURCH records from 1850s-1870s This is what we know about our ancestors' religious affiliation. Married by Name of bride and groom Date [Religious affil.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ S W Adams Clergyman m Margaret M B Lane & Thomas H Earl 1851 [BAPTIST] NOTE: Margaret M B Lane (1830-1889) is the daughter of Mary B (1804-1879) & William LANE (1799-1891), all born England Possibly Margarent had a second husband, William Earl (from Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England, 1830-1893). Or else, the groom's first name is wrong in Cuyahoga marriage records. Margaret and William are listed 1860, 1880 Clevland census and are buried together Woodland Cemetery, along with daughter, Mary Ann Earl Riehl (1855-1943). Possibly this is the Charles who was one of Mary's brothers and possibly Rev.Tagg helped him. (Can't tell, because there's also a Charles Chamberlain, laborer Novelty Iron Works, same directory.) But, in any event, Rev. William Sampson is known to have played a role after the family was decimated by TB (1876-1879). The disease left Mary's two very young children orphaned and her father and grandfather widowed. NOTE. Mary C. Edwards (1858-1878) & David Edwards (1854-1879) were the parents of Margaret Ann (b 1874) & Elvira Ann (b 1876). Elvira was adopted by Henry & Louise Lower and renamed Florence Marsh Lower. Her older sister (Margaret/ "Rita") was placed with a farm family (Thornton?) outside of Cleveland. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rev C N GRANT 259 Franklin St m Ephriam H Lower & Rettie Kennedy 1873 [METHODIST] May 1873 NOTE: Rettie Kennedy is Rachel Kennedy and thus sister of Sophia Louise Kennedy Lower.
