Arguments For My Position: Phones and all online
communication methods including social media should be banned from
being used on school grounds due to students being cyber-bullied by
their peers.
Argument #1:
The majority of cyber-bullying occurs in school or classroom environments which act as a direct distraction for children.
Their is a higher opportunity for students to be victims of cyber bullying during school hours due to kids having access to their phones. Also, on average in school their is a 20 to 1 student to faculty ratio which provide for a flourishing social scene. (Chan 581)
Argument #2:
There is a direct coloration between students who are cyber-bullied and their performance in the classroom.
The psychological effect for students who are victims of
cyber-bullying is astronomical due to the feeling of being 'trapped'
while also having 'no way out'. (Kanwal 789)
In a study, students that experienced cyber-bullying were at a much
higher chance of experiencing 'severe anxiety, depression and even
suicidal behaviors'. (Kowalski, 2013, p. 9)
