ball describes the type of paintball played outside in as you may have
guessed wooded areas or those created in order to make more realistic
scenarios. These games allow for more realism and natural
gameplay.
Speed ball on the other hand refers to the type of paintball generally
played indoors. The fields are generally small by comparison to
woods ball fields. They are fielded with astroturf and large
blowup obstacles for cover. The term speed ball was coined by the
quick nature of this type of game, which is pretty much a run and gun
in which a person runs as fast as possible while attempting to shoot as
many paintballs as possible. The equipment used is also slightly
different.
