Dr. Nathan George has been an Assistant Professor in the Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University since the fall of 2016. His research centers on infants' and children's developing understanding of events and how they are represented in language. Nathan is a graduate of Lehigh University. He received his doctoral degree in developmental psychology from Temple University, under the advisement of Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek and Dr. Roberta Golinkoff. Upon completing his doctoral degree, he spent two years as a post-doctoral scholar working with Dr. Dan Weiss in the Center for Language Science at Penn State University. But Nathan's best training has been the time spent with his five neices and nephews. When not in the lab, Nathan can be found golfing, biking, cooking, and playing board games.
Shoronda is a graduate student in the General Psychology Masters program at Adelphi University. She received her Bachelors degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Scranton. Shoronda is interested in the topics of learning and the effects of different digital media materials/formats on learning. Currently, she is completing a master thesis on parents' views concerning traditional books vs. books with electronic elements. She would like to see whether their views correspond with the current literature on what reading materials are considered to be the most beneficial for child learning. In her free time, Shoronda loves to read, watch reality tv and documentaries, and spend time with family and friends.
Najee is a sophomore Psychology major with a minor Theater Arts here at Adelphi University. Outside of school and work, Najee enjoys writing poetry and volunteering. When he graduates from Adelphi University, Najee plans on furthering his education in the hopes of one day becoming a Clinical Child Psychologist working with children on the Autism spectrum.
Joanna is a junior psychology major at Adelphi University, and is also an Honors College student. Joanna is predominantly interested in childhood development and child learning. Currently, she is completing research on attachment security in relation to maternal factors, as part of Adelphi's Emerging Scholars program. Joanna is also a member of Psychology Club and is Psi Chi Secretary. After graduating Adelphi, Joanna plans to pursue a doctoral degree in child clinical psychology and would like to continue work in academia. In her free time, Joanna likes to play video games, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family.
Sophie is a junior at Adelphi University, a Psychology major, and a student in the Honors College. After she graduates from Adelphi, she plans to pursue a Masters degree in School Psychology. Sophie became involved in this lab because she thinks how children and adults learn and utilize language is interesting, and believes that what she learns in the lab will help her in her eventual career as a School Psychologist. Sophie is also a member of her university's Psychology Club and a member of Psi Chi, which is an international honor society for students in psychology. In her free time, Sophie enjoys watching sports, reading books, and playing with her four dogs!

Lauren was an undergraduate research assistant from Fall 2016-Spring 2017. After graduation, Lauren went on to graduate school at St. John's University.
