Our wind field is located 20 miles off the Long Island shore. We chose 20 miles because we did not want to start any trouble with people who own ocean front property. Many people complain that wind turbines are an eyesore, but when they are located further out, they are hardly seen from the shoreline. Our wind farm has 572 turbines. They are all run power straight into our Brooklyn station. Every mile we have an underwater transformer to save power and improve our efficiency. This is the largest wind farm on the northeast.
