Becoming a member of the Adelphi S.G.A. is an incredible opportunity to make
yourself an influential member of the undergraduate student body. Members of the S.G.A. take on the 'big'
issues that affect students most--tuition, construction, residence life
issues, and much more – and are the primary source of the
administration's perspective on how students think about the University.
There is no other organization at Adelphi that is as important to giving
students a voice or that is as well positioned to make a difference in how
the University functions.
Joining the S.G.A. will also give you an enormous opportunity to improve your
communication, writing, and negotiation skills. You will be given the
opportunity to deal with high-level administrators and learn what it is like
to negotiate in a real business setting. For the aspiring politician or
lawyer, the S.G.A. is far and away the best outlet, and best experience, for
you. But all students can benefit from serving the S.G.A., since the
experience is an extraordinary resume builder that will impress employers,
law schools, and graduate schools alike.
