Results from Lon Levy's high school
At Oregon High School, for the past seven years, there have been two
courses:
-
An Introduction to Computer Science (which used to be called CS1 for
the first semester and CS2 for the second semester)
and
- AP Computer Science "AB": Data Structures (which used to be the AP
"A" curriculum)
... shifting [the intro course] from Q-Basic to TS! and shifting
to the data structures
curriculum with a huge component being from HtDCH saw AP scores rise
from an average of about 3 on the "A" Exam to an average of 4.3 on the
"AB" Exam.
Note: ALL students in the course are encouraged to take the AP Data
Structures test, and all have done so for about five years. (I was not
picking and choosing just the best students to sit the exam).
